I’m in love with……vitamin C!

Lovely berries that I picked up from Farmer's Market

I love eating it – fruits and veggies: berries, kiwi fruit, nectarines, peaches, kale, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts (the best when roasted), broccoli.

It continues to amaze me how powerful a single vitamin can be. When taken both internally as well as applied externally, Vitamin C does not disappoint!

I believe that the beauty benefits are so great that most of the serums that I develop for Lotus Moon contain some percentage of vitamin C (l-ascorbic acid).

When I am consistent with my Vitamin C intake, both internally and externally, I notice the difference in my skin and how my body responds.

The benefits of applying vitamin C topically are numerous. And even better is that there is science to back it up. Here are a few:

  • Increases skin’s ability to protect itself from damage (toxins, environmental, sun)
  • Neutralizes damaging free radicals – which can lead to deep wrinkles, hyper-pigmentation and chronic inflammation
  • Stimulate collagen (the skin’s firmness) and elastin (its ability to retain its original shape)
  • Topical application delivers 20 times more vitamin C to the skin then when taken internally.

PLEASE whatever you do DO NOT use a vitamin C powder supplement that is intended for ingestion and apply to your skin topically. A customer called and shared with us that she had done just that and now she needed a product that would help the rash go away. And thank goodness we had just the thing for her (Cherry Blossom Healing Soothe).

Now that summer is in full swing we have no excuse to not go out and stock up on all the vitamin C rich fruits that Mother Nature has so generously created. To help you out a little I will post vitamin C recipes too.
