Masks, They Are Your Friend, Don’t Forget About Them!

I feel like lots of people treat masks as the red headed stepchild of their skin care routine, saying that it is not necessary at that exact moment and say things like “oh, I will do a mask tomorrow night”.  Just to let you know, this DOES hurt the masks feelings!  I only talk about this and bring it up because I usually feel the same way, if I am “strapped” for time, strapped being in quotes because when it comes to skin care, you are or never should be strapped for time, just saying.  Anyway, back on task…masks can be an integral part of you weekly routine.  They can be great for a wide variety of things; they can help hydrate, soothe, de-puff, help with breakouts and oil regulation, redness, lightening and brightening as well as the stimulation of collagen.

Now, if you have any of these issues, why on earth would you wanna “do it tomorrow”?  You wouldn’t, you would want to do it as soon as you think of it.  In fact, after reading this post, you have no excuse not to mask right away! But wait. Let me give you the tip of the century. Are you ready? Okay, here goes… put your mask or peel on before you take your shower in the morning…Oh stop…You can thank me later…

Masks can and should be done weekly or even two times a week.  On a good week, I like to mask on Monday and Thursday, reason is, not that you need to know but I will tell you anyway, Mondays sometimes bring me down and a good mask can lift me and my skin up, and on Thursdays because it gets me ready for the weekend and I sure don’t have enough time on Friday nights.

The way I look at it is if you can give it importance, such as beauty before you go out, you will love it and want to do it.  They only take 10 minutes, 15 tops, and you are fresher, more beautiful and pampered. The great thing about masks is that you can usually leave them on as long as you would like, if you have something to do while it is setting and the time slips away, it is ok.

Are you ready for another quick and amazing tip? Okay, here it is… I like to put on a mask and then start to cook something, most likely something that involves boiling water and steam, this keeps the mask from hardening and it is like a little mini facial and the steam and heat help the mask penetrate deeper and better while you do something that may not be fun.  Like I have been known to say, skin care CAN be fun, as long as we make it.  And as for those poor, little, neglected masks that you brush off to the side and say you will utilize at a later time, they will rebel if you ignore them for too long…because they will not be as active and potent like when you first purchased them…  Did you think I was going to they were going to sprout arms and attack you or something??

Question: Other than masks, are there any other steps of your routine that you push to the side or skip?  What are the reasons?
